Simple Southern Fried Shrimp
Ingredients

whole milk
1
cup
buttermilk
1/4
cup
hot sauce
2
cups
self rising flour
1/4
cup
self-rising cornmeal
dash
freshly ground pepper
seasoned salt
to taste
2
lbs
shrimp
peeled, deveined, tails removed
peanut oil
Instructions
Preheat oil in a deep fryer or dutch oven to 375 degrees.
Line a plate or sheet pan with paper towels and set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix together whole milk, buttermilk and hot sauce. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornmeal and seasonings.
Rinse and dry shrimp. Dredge shrimp in flour mixture first, then milk mixture, and then again in the flour mixture.
Deep fry in small batches until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel lined pan.
